📶 How to Define Network Capacity Using Demand Areas

Model usage scenarios, visualize AP load, and analyze whether your design meets expected capacity by assigning demand profiles to defined areas.

🔲 Step 1: Enable and Select Areas

  • Go to the Areas tab (press D)

  • If areas are hidden, enable visibility

  • Select an existing area (e.g., General) or create a new one

📊 Step 2: Add or Modify a Demand Profile

  • Assign a Demand Profile to the selected area (e.g., Home User)

  • You can:

    • Use default profiles

    • Or modify settings like:

      • Avg Throughput per user

      • Number of users

      • Activity level (e.g., 100%)

  • Save the demand and apply it to the area

📈 Step 3: View Capacity Results

  • Go to Overview > Capacity

  • The platform shows:

    • Peak usage per AP

    • Average and worst-case utilization

    • Total user load

  • Example: Worst AP at 200%, best at 38%, average 100%

❌ Step 4: Exclude Areas Without Demand

  • Select an area that should not affect capacity

  • Remove its demand assignment

  • It will be excluded from all capacity calculations

🔄 Step 5: Create High-Demand Zones

  • Define a new Area Type (e.g., High Demand)

  • Create a matching Demand Profile (e.g., 1080p streaming, 30–50 Gbps)

  • Draw the new area — it can:

    • Overlap existing areas (will be carved out as its own zone)

    • Or cover new regions

💾 Step 6: Save and Recalculate

  • Once area changes are made, click Save

  • The platform updates capacity calculations instantly with new values
