🔲 How to Use Heatmap/Analysis Areas and Pins

Analyze different regions of your project using custom-defined areas like “Heatmap,” “High Demand,” or “General,” and enrich the map with visual pins and imported KML/KMZ files.

🌐 Step 1: Understand Area Types

  • Go to the Areas tool (or press D)

  • You’ll see:

    • Heatmap Area – used for coverage calculations; clipped to available clutter data

    • Analysis Areas – user-defined zones for targeted reporting (e.g., General, High Demand)

✏️ Step 2: Add and Draw Analysis Areas

  1. Create a new Area Type (e.g., “General” or “High Demand”)

  2. Click to draw the shape on the map

    • Hold Shift to close the shape

  3. Repeat to define multiple area types

📊 Step 3: Analyze Area-Based Stats

  • Go to Summary > Coverage

  • Select one or multiple areas to view:

    • Individual or combined coverage metrics

    • Demand-based insights

📁 Step 4: Import or Export KML/KMZ Files

  • You can:

    • Export your areas as KML

    • Import from existing KML/KMZ datasets to define areas

📍 Step 5: Add and Customize Pins

  • Import pin data into your project

  • Customize pins by:

    • Color

    • Placement

  • Useful for denoting key reference points
