🧵 How to Add Ducts, Manage Cabling, and define IDFs
Draw ducts, add risers, and automate cabling across multi-floor projects with centralized IDFs and live switch assignments.
🧵 Step 1: Enable Wiring and Ducting Mode

Open the Visibility Menu

Turn on Wiring

This enables ducting tools for your project
📏 Step 2: Draw Ducts and Risers

Click on Ducting, then:

Define your duct type
-
Set either a story height or a specific vertical height

Begin drawing:

Hold Shift to draw straight lines

Double-click to finish the drawing

For multi-floor projects:

Use the Add Riser option
-
Place risers at the locations where vertical cabling is needed

🖧 Step 3: Add IDF Room and Switches

Go to Hardware → IDF
-
Add a new IDF room:

Give it a name
-
Add a switch, including:
-
Number of ports
-
Total PoE power
-

-
Place the IDF in your floor plan

The cabling is auto-routed through the defined ducts
🔁 Step 4: Customize Switch Assignment (Cross-Floor)

Click on an AP that needs to connect to a switch on another floor

View the cable length
-
Open Manual Switch Assignment

Select the switch on another floor
-
Click Update

The system recalculates the cable path and total length
🧾 Step 5: Check Bill of Material

Go to your Bill of Material
-
See the total cable length and related hardware counts updated in real time
