📡 How to Use the Advanced Ray Tracer

📡 eino's new ray tracing engine is dramatically faster thanks to GPU acceleration, giving you physically accurate RF predictions at high speed. It fully models multi-path, capturing reflections and diffractions from any angle as signals bounce and bend through your real environment — for true-to-life coverage even in the most complex spaces. Because the engine is so fast, you can generate much higher-resolution heatmaps that reveal detail traditional methods simply miss.

 

 

 


🚀 Step 1: Select the Advanced Ray Tracer

Start with a project, then select the Ray Tracer button.

  • The advanced ray tracer is automatically selected for any new project.
  • Older projects default to Ray Tracing Classic, but can always be changed over to Ray Tracing Advanced.

📍 Step 2: Place or Move Access Points

  • Moving an AP triggers a heatmap calculation.
  • Adding an AP also triggers a recalculation.
  • The heatmap is recalculated quickly once the AP has been set.

⚙️ Step 3: Configure the Advanced Settings

Under Ray Tracing Advanced, you can select and adjust:

  • Reflections
  • Diffractions
  • Interference Suppression level
  • Fade Margin — adjusts the deposited power of the link budget. Increasing the margin effectively increases free space loss.
  • Grid Resolution — improves the fidelity of the simulation. A coarser grid simulates faster; a finer grid provides more information about the scene but takes slightly longer to process.

✅ The advanced ray tracer is now active, recalculating high-resolution coverage in real time as you place and move APs.
